Bill Mather Gallery

"I love teaching people of all abilities from beginners upwards and
helping young people to get through exams is particularly rewarding"

"People often come and stay for a weekend dividing their time between
the studio and visiting Stonehenge, Avebury and Marlborough.
So non painting partners are not left out"

Tuition is £ 20.00 per hour and includes basic materials.
Class times can be very flexibly arranged to suite the student.

Linda Fry - Marlborough: "Bill is a fantastic and talented artist and sculptor (and musician!)... An insightful tutor who understands what the student needs from him. I have been having 1-1 sessions in the delightful Studio at Westcourt Bottom for several months and produced some pieces of work that I am very happy with - pastel portraits and now sculpting in a day. All materials supplied which makes life easy."

Nisha Subassinghe - Pinner: "My mother and I really enjoyed our time at Westcourt. William Mather provided us with a lovely art course over the three days we were there. We learned a lot and had a wonderful time.
Having one-to-one tuition was really special. William's skills as an artist and teacher enabled us to gain a lot over the three days.
We will definitely go back to Westcourt again."

Sue Bates - Marlborough: "Excellent and easily understood tuition. Using just 3 colours was invaluable in improving painting skills, would recommend to other aspiring artists."

Jean Perrett - Devizes: "Good instruction and demonstration before setting out on painting. Easy to manage steps with individual guidance where needed. Very pleasing results. I enjoyed using the limited colour palette and didn't miss using more- in fact I felt black was almost unnecessary."

Sally Bett-Hewitt - Pewsey: "Bill has been teaching my young son for some time now, and is helping his technique and confidence hugely. He is easy to get along with, highly positive and full of praise for my son's work."

White Horse Bookshop - Marlborough: "Bill Mather has taught one-day art workshops at the White Horse Bookshop, Marlborough for over five years, inspiring many students to develop their artistic skills and creativity further. His fees are very competitive, as his motivation is to encourage others to enjoy the creative process, and he takes considerable time to give each student personal and considered input."

Alix Booth - Marlborough: "Whatever your ability William Mather can teach, help and expand your artwork to new horizons. His classes are great fun but really push you on into new mediums and ideas; by doing this he gets you to find your own strengths. Wonderful."

Victor Smith - Pewsey: "A commissioned sculpture from inception to completion. The whole journey was simply fascinating. Bill is very adept from, on the one hand, being exceedingly helpful, very understanding, full of imaginative and innovative ideas, whilst, with the other, aiming to capture the real essence of the piece. In addition, he created the perfect environment; very friendly and relaxed."
